My name is Nick Castillo, and I am an engineer with a passion for blending hands-on technical work and programming to create practical solutions. I am a self-taught programmer with experience in Expo, React Native, HTML, and C++, and my main interests include robotics and artificial intelligence. My long-term aim is to apply these skills toward advancing renewable energy and sustainability.

I bring a unique blend of hands-on technical skills and programming expertise. With over eight years of experience in electrical, plumbing, and handyman work, I’ve developed a knack for solving problems quickly and effectively—whether that means crafting an immediate fix or developing a long-term solution. I believe practical problem-solving is essential, since overthinking can often delay progress and lead to significant costs in real-world projects.

In addition to programming, I am skilled in 3D modeling with Fusion 360 and have designed and prototyped my own creations. I enjoy identifying challenges, improving systems, and finding innovative ways to make things work better.

My goal is to continue growing as an engineer by securing an internship or joining a startup, where I can contribute my technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and problem-solving mindset to impactful projects.

3D Modeling

I have a passion for 3D modeling and I use it to create realistic and detailed models for my projects. Here is one of my models I made using fusion360 to make into an STL file and 3D print

Carpentry, Plumbing, and Electrical

LHere, I have documented the various repairs and fixes I have completed for customers. I genuinely enjoy fixing and repairing things. I believe that working on items such as electrical, plumbing, and carpentry provides me with valuable insights into what constitutes effective design and functionality, as well as identifying common poor designs. This experience helps me develop practical knowledge that can be applied to creating better, more reliable solutions in real-world applications.

Rideshare app - Routed Rides

I developed a comprehensive rideshare application as a learning exercise to explore new programming technologies and expand my technical skill set. Through this project, I gained hands-on experience with React Native and Expo, enabling cross-platform deployment across iOS, Android, and web platforms from a single codebase. The development process provided valuable insights into API implementation with a strong emphasis on security best practices, while challenging me to navigate complex technical requirements and ultimately delivering a functional multi-platform solution that demonstrates my ability to adapt to new technologies and solve real-world development challenges.Retry
